DESCRIPTION
Situated on 13 acres of land
9km outside Barberton, the Old Coach Road Guest House is
surrounded by indigenous Lowveld vegetation and many relics from
the gold rush days of Barberton. Barberton is situated on the
Wild Frontier Tourist Route of the Mpumalanga province, South
Africa, only a stone's throw away from the world famous Kruger
National Park. (Fully licensed with restaurant).
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is in rooms separate from the main house, all with
private facilities (either bath or shower). Facilities for the
disabled are available.
Accommodation consists of five double rooms and one family unit
each with two bedrooms, bathroom and small lounge and one single
room. Accommodation is offered on a bed and breakfast basis with
dinner available.
DINING
We are fully licensed with a
restaurant on site.
ACTIVITIES
Barberton has a robust
history from the gold rush days of the 1880"s. The local museum
and period houses from that era are well maintained and worth a
visit. For the adventurous, view the beautiful Dekaap valley
from the air with an early morning microlight flight.
Some 250 different bird species occur in the Barberton area and
the Lowveld Bird Club has regular outings to surrounding areas.
If you are fit, try the Old Coach Road Mountain hike (duration 3
hours) or the more sedate Rimers Creek Bird Walk.
A day visit to Kruger National Park is possible from Old Coach
Road if you have an early start. Malelane Gate is only 64 km
away and supplied with our breakfast picnic pack, a round trip
Malelane / Sabie / Lower-Sabie / Crocodile Bridge is a unique
outing.
For 4x4 enthusiasts, various scenic drives, including the
Swaziland border area, lasting no longer than a day are possible
from Old Coach Road.
