Machadodorp, where the Elands River rushes down from the mountains on its way to
the Lowveld, one experiences the unique climate of the Highlands. Here, you can
sit back and enjoy spectacular views down the escarpment, and enjoy some of the
best fly-fishing the region has to offer. For those used to the better things in life, a beautifully furnished, upmarket house provides accommodation for seven people. Offering breathtaking views of the dams and river, this "home away from home" is fully equipped and serviced daily. The fishing is diverse and challenging, and a good experience for the more serious and advanced fisherman. You can choose between 4 km of the upper Elands River with several weirs and waterfalls, or one of four dams ranging from a well-stocked beginners dam to a 14-hectare lake with fish weighing up to 5kg lurking in the depths. With 165 different bird species, Fins and Feathers is a paradise for the keen bird watcher. Here, the resident breeding fish eagles (148) call you in the morning to wander down to the lake, experience the abundant bird life and see otters play as you row between islands and reeds while the sun peeks over the horizon. Regular sightings of the very rare Eurasian marsh harriers (164), endangered crowned cranes (209), secretary birds (118) and cape vultures (122) are real treats. Apart from the fascinating flora of this region, you'll be pleasantly surprised to see an abundance of blesbuck, reebuck, duiker and klipspringer on walks through the farm. At night, jackal and genet hunt while you can see rabbit, porcupine and bush pig foraging next to the river. Experience the tranquillity and superb fishing of Fins and Feathers. Excellent picnic and braai spots can be found at the waterfall and river. For the more adventurous, there's quad biking and mountain biking trails (bring your own bikes). |

Feathers cottage is situated on Fins and Feathers, a private, luxurious
self catering 3 bedroom one bathroom cottage with full kitchen DSTV and
fireplace.
This cottage has access to 4 private dams and 2 kilometer of Elands river fishing. The cottage is daily serviced and has access to the Anford restaurant and pub for meals and drinks. R250 per person Self catering Minimum 4 people (prices subject to change - Please check) Anford house and restaurant is situated on a adjacent farm with nine dams. Anford has 5 double rooms, 2 suite rooms and a family cottage. The restaurant and pub supplies food and beverages. Prices range from R300 - R350 per person bed and breakfast |
