Lakenvlei Forest
Lodge nestles amid lush forest vegetation and wetland in the
heart of the Eastern Highlands of the Mpumalanga Province. It is ideal as a stop over for travellers to the Kruger Park and beyond or as an escape from city life. The lodge is also only 20km from the quaint village of Dullstroom. The forest, hills and dense reed beds surrounding the wetland are home to an enormous variety of bird species, including the Whiskered Tern and Purple Heron as well as at least six duck species and the endangered crowned crane. Birds list at 237 species. Mammals such as the Cape clawless otter, caracal, black backed jackal, duiker and serval add to the rare charm of this delightful forest refuge. The estate offers unsurpassed tranquillity and outstanding natural beauty. The entire wetland or vlei has been declared a Natural Heritage Site. |

Fins Estate - The old farmhouse is situated between old pine and blue gum trees and can accommodate up to twelve people, while a beautiful park-like garden surrounds it. The eleven well-stocked dams are beautifully situated next to a pine forest, and along a 2km stretch of the Elands River. A cozy cottage set in a pine forest offers a beautiful view down the escarpment and provides accommodation for six. |
