Poplar Grove Guest Farm is
situated on the south-eastern Highveld of Mpumalanga. With its
delightful old-world charm it offers a tranquil and restful haven,
secluded from the surrounding highly industrialised area, yet
conveniently located for visitors to Secunda or Bethal.
Unobstructed Highveld vistas of unspoilt grasslands, abundant
birdlife and old-fashioned hospitality create a truly unique

Accommodation
The historic homestead, built in
1915, has been lovingly restored to its former splendour by the
owners, Cor and Dineke Ehlers. Modern venues can never compete with
the atmosphere created by Poplar Grove's lofty dimensions,
pressed-steel ceilings, Oregon pine floors, grand fireplaces and its
rose, herb and vegetable gardens.
The original 19th century homestead, built of local stone and
yellowwood beams brought from the Eastern Cape in the 1870s, has
survived the Anglo-Boer war and is now also being restored.
Breakfast & Dining
Bed and breakfast clients are served five-star breakfasts in the
main homestead; dinner is available on request. Enjoy exclusive
gourmet catering for business functions or that special occasion, be
it brunch, lunch, dinner or high tea.
Conferences
Our conference and meeting rooms can accommodate up to 30 people for
day conferences, board meetings or strategic planning sessions.
Conference delegates return time and again due to the meticulous
personalised service they receive as well as the delicious lunches,
teas and snack platters.

Poplar Grove Guest Farm is the
perfect getaway venue, a welcoming retreat from the hustle and
bustle of urban life. The surrounding grasslands allow excellent
highveld birding, with regular sightings of blue korhaan, flamingo,
secretary bird, bald ibis, purple swamp-hen and crested grebe, to
name but a few.
Unwind in the farms own bird hide or order a picnic basket to
linger under weeping willow trees. Explore the walking trail to the
nearby dam where various duck, egret and heron species and a host of
other inland water birds can be observed. Experience horse riding on
vast open Highveld plains or enjoy the variety of indigenous veld
flowers in spring and fields full of cosmos in autumn.
