Bed & Breakfast/ Guest House/ Guest Lodge Accommodation
in Kaapsche Hoop, Lowveld & Kruger National Park,
Mpumalanga, South Africa
Nestled on the edge of the
Mpumalanga escarpment,
Kaapsche Hoop looks over the valleys toward Barberton and Nelspruit
and in this tranquil setting you will find "Kaapsche Hoop Gastehuis".
(Guesthouse).
Kaapsche Hoop Gastehuis has eight fully equipped luxury en-suite
rooms with mini bar, each with it's own private entry. The
Guesthouse also has a restaurant and bar.
Being only 28 Km from Nelspruit, Kaapsche Hoop Gastehuis is ideally
situated as a home base from which you can travel for day trips to
Sabie, Graskop, the Kruger National Park, Barberton, Badplaas and
even Mozambique or Swaziland.
Accommodation
Rooms can be configured to single, twin or double. Both beds and
bedding in the guesthouse are of highest quality, the duvets and
cushions being made of pure wool, promising a comfortable, warm and
refreshing sleep.
The restaurant used to be known as "The Wild Horse" and became quite
well known for its outstanding quality of fare. Today, it is almost
solely available to our guests. The bar, also, is private and lends
itself to a relaxing atmosphere where friends can meet.
Daily activities
Kaapsche Hoop is surrounded by forests and open grass-veldt,
interspersed with beautiful rock formations - sandstone carved by
millennia of wind, rain and ice. In this rejuvenating atmosphere you
can go for short walks or long hikes and enjoy an area where wild
horses roam free, the air is pure, the water is clear and sweet, the
people friendly and the memories plenty.
To make your stay all the more memorable, there are horse trails
ranging from 1 1/2 hours to five-day bum killer slogs. The ultimate
is a moonlight ride. An absolute must for the nature lover! (Only
available at full moon in clear weather.) Four wheeler trails are
also available to those who are skittish of live horsepower. Both
are subject to separate bookings.
The bird life is a pleasure to behold. The critically endangered
blue swallow graces us with it's presence during summer and large
raptors nesting in trees makes the weight of binoculars on a walk
worth while.
Location
Kaapsche Hoop is situated 12km off the N4 towards Nelspruit. Turn
off at the SAPPI pulp mill and climb 728 meters while driving 12 km
to the top of the mountain. Driving past Kaapsche Hoop is a short
cut to Nelspruit, circumventing traffic and cutting a neat 18km off
the trip. The beautiful views are free.
Being so high above the surrounding valleys, Kaapsche Hoop has a
unique climate with wet misty summers and rather cold winters.
Always bring a warm piece of clothing with.
